No- Caleb did not get a dog for his birthday! The kids and I were leaving the house to go run some errands when we noticed Olive (pictured to the left) running down the street with no owner in sight. Luckily her legs are even shorter than mine (and I have been training for the marathon.... or maybe it was simply the 20 foot leash dragging behind her) and I was able to scoop her up off the street. When I opened the van door to grab my cell phone so I could call the number on her tag, she jumped in and made herself at home. Fortunately we got her home safe and sound with no accidents in my precious mama-mobile! Even better...she licked up some ice cream Caleb had dropped in between some seat latches... which was an impossible spot for me to get to!It always amazes me how holidays & birthdays are no longer a 1 day ordeal for the kids.... it goes on for weeks! Whether it is Christmas, Easter, Halloween, or their birthdays... the parties and gifts just continue on and on. This last week they have celebrated their birthdays with various members of the Postlewait family in Marietta, again in WV, and even with Meemaw Postlewait's class at Wood County Christian! Then their party last night with more family and friends. At lunch Caleb insisted on having a chocolate birthday cake because afterall.... today is his birthday! Then tonight had dinner with my friend Alli at Bob Evan's (or as Caleb calls it... "Bob's") where they got more presents... as well as a free Reese's sundae from the manager... as well as a Happy Birthday serenade from the large group dining behind us. Tomorrow will be the party at school with more cake and next week is an all week birthday party at Disneyworld (yeah!). And finally when we get back we will be celebrating with the Swartz's. See what I mean? :)

Em's favorite part of the sundae is the cherry while Caleb likes the Reeses.
I am still in shock over Caleb turning 5 today and Emilie turning 3 tomorrow. Around this time 5 years ago I was passed out from medication after a C-section & Caleb was in the nursery. (It wasn't until almost 2 am when the medication wore off and I was coherent enough to realize we had just had a baby.) 3 years ago... I was busy thinking about my last meal instead of trying to sleep. We were going in the next morning at the crack of dawn to have another C-section and I knew from experience it was going to be nothing but jello & chicken broth for the next several days.
People often talk about how God's vision is so much larger than we can comprehend.... that He is able to bless us beyond our wildest dreams and Caleb & Emilie are evidence of His amazing grace and love. They are more amazing than I ever thought children could be and this is only the beginning.
Happy Birthday Caleb!!! I love you!!!!
