Celebrate Reading Week: Storytelling with Rick Sowash

The guest author this year was Rick Sowash, who specializes in writing stories about Ohio. We had a fun evening with Powell and Westview campuses combined for a 'pajama' party. All students, parents, staff, and author showed up in their pj's!

When we were getting ready to go to the reading, I laid out Caleb's 'cool' spiderman pajama pants and a t-shirt. To my surprise Caleb instantly rejected my suggestion and opted for his footed zip-up pajamas because it was cold out. I was a little worried about this choice... he is a first grader now and I wasn't sure if other elementary students wore footed pj's.... but Caleb was sure of his choice. Of course I laughed at myself the rest of the evening for worrying so much about what Caleb wore to the reading party... leave it to the 30 year old to worry about whether or not the 6 year old was going to look 'cool' at a pajama reading party... so mature of me. *Sigh* I'm glad I have Caleb in my life to remind me not to be so trivial and not to sweat the small stuff.

Caleb was a little tired from waiting in line to get his books signed.
Smiling with Rick Sowash.
