Mr. Roebuck

Caleb was excited to show his DS to 2 people today... Ben was one and Mr. Roebuck the other. Even though we didn't see Ben at dance, we knew we would see Mr. Roebuck during our Meals on Wheels route today. We always make him our last stop on the route so we can stay and visit. He is such a sweet man- full of love and laughter. And he is a huge Mountaineers fan- just like Caleb! Mr. Roebuck has known the kids since they were 'in Mommy's belly' as Emilie likes to say.

So this morning when we picked up our delivery list Caleb wanted to know how many customers we had for the day and how quickly we could get to see our friend. "Mr. Roebuck has known me since I was a baby so I know he would really want to know I have a DS."

Even though Mr. Roebuck had no idea what a DS was or what Caleb was showing him- he patiently sat with Caleb and listened... encouraging him to tell more and gushing over how proud he was of Caleb for saving his money. This was probably one of my favorite visits with our dear friend.... as Emilie and I sat back and watched Caleb and Mr. Roebuck, I was reminded of how Caleb and his Pa would have such similar interactions. I know without a doubt Pa was looking down from heaven beaming with pride over Caleb & his DS.
