Caleb decided to go spend the night at Logan's after the movie (Emilie couldn't go with Emma because she had dance early in the morning) so Emilie and I decided to have a girl's night. It was so fun to see a different side of Emilie tonight... without her big brother around she quickly became a chatterbox. I wish I had a video camera on us to capture all the fun 'moments'.
After the movie, Emilie suggested we go to a chinese restaurant for some chinese bis-ghetti (lo mein) which I was very much in favor of... there is never a bad time for some good chinese! I almost drove us off the road on the way to dinner from laughing so hard when out of nowhere my little princess let out a big sneeze/monstrous toot combo from the back seat. I have never heard anything so loud come from such a little person before! When I began rolling down the windows (because yes- it did smell THAT bad!) Emilie said, "Don't worry- you'll get used to the smell in a little bit."
Emilie's self portrait during dinner.
When dinner arrived, the waitress announced our dish as "Lo Mein". Emilie was quite perturbed by this and said, "Why does everyone keep calling chinese bis-ghetti 'lo mein'????!"
The restaurant didn't have kid friendly chopsticks so Emilie decided to do with what she had.
During dinner we discussed a wide variety of topics. Without this blog I don't know if I could remember exactly all that was said this evening, but I will never forget what it was like to be with my favorite girl. My little girl is a drama queen and has all extremes covered. Tonight I saw her lassez-faire side.... chubby round cheek resting on her little fist..which causes her already full lips to pout even more..... her sweet curls just hanging carelessly around such a sweet face....and the deep sigh trailing at the end of every word. Such an incredibly sweet moment.... would have loved to have bottled her essence up in a jar to hold on to forever and ever!
Somehow we got onto the topic of scary things and Emilie told me she was not afraid of ghosts because, "they are made of nothing. If a ghost comes up to me I would take it's white cover off and it would be gone! I only scared of three things- monsters, bats, and the Big Bad Wolf."
When we got home we decided to have a slumber party. As we drifted off to sleep I heard Emilie mumble, "This was a nice evening". Words can't express how much I loved this unexpected time with my daughter. Love you, Ems!!! :)
