Another fun filled weekend....

Every day is always interesting when you have a 4 & 2 year old to share it with. This weekend was of no exception....

We started it off with the first cookout of the season at the Rector's house. Afterwards Logan (6) and Emma (3) came back to our house for a sleepover. All parents were a little nervous about how it would go because Logan & Emma never want to stay the night anywhere but home. Initially they were against the idea but after an evening of playing together and realizing they would all have to say their goodbyes....they changed their minds. It was around 9:30 when we left the Rector's (who live just down the street from us) and everyone went straight to bed once we got home. Well... that is what was supposed to happen anyway. The girls kept running into the boys room keeping them awake until 2 am! I realize this shouldn't have surprised me considering I've done plenty of late night sleepovers in my days... but I guess I figured toddlers would pass out quicker.

So the house was filled with little pitter patters all night and while it was a bit exhausting... it was really sweet. I'm glad Caleb & Emilie are building such great friendships and memories. They also got a good lesson in cleaning the next day as they spent a couple of hours putting all the toys away. The expression "a bomb went off" doesn't even begin to describe what the upstairs looked like......... The picture on the left shows them at the half way point of the cleaning process.

After 6 hours of sleep Caleb, Emilie, and I joined Josh at Battelle Darby Park for the Spark's hike. (Josh is the Sparks Director for our church's Awana program) It seems like every hike for the past 2 years has been blessed with rain and this one was no different. Attendance was light due to the weather but we still enjoyed looking at the young flowers and blooming trees. While we were walking Caleb asked me, "Did your Mom & Dad have places like this when you were a baby?" I wasn't sure if he was asking if there was a park or woods near my parent's house and or if he was asking me about Korea. So this turned into an interesting conversation about parks & woods & what Korea was like. I treasure these conversations because it forces me to slow down and see how loving and gracious God has been in my life.
(Picture on right is of Josh & Sparks performing for the parents)

Caleb rode with Josh in his truck on the way home from the hike. During the ride Caleb worked on his math and was counting up to 100. As he made his way through the 70's... the conversations went as follows.....
Caleb: 77,78,79,80,100
Josh: 100 doesn't come after 80... you missed a few numbers there bud. Start at 81....
Caleb: 81,82,83,84,85,86,87,88,89,90,100
Josh: You missed a few more numbers again... 91 comes after 90.
Caleb: Dad- Mommy's van cheats then because it goes from 80 to 100.

If Caleb ever fails a math test at school... I'll be sure to explain to the teacher it is Honda's fault. :)

What I want to know is if Caleb has actually seen the needle on the van skip from 80 to 100!!! :-) They are our little consciences back there aren't they? Braden always says "Mom, both hands on the wheel, you're scaring me!"
